Pharmaceutical Analysis is a scientific discipline used to study the chemical composition, structure and behavior of matter. The purpose of chemical analysis is to gather and interpret chemical information. It involves application of a range of techniques and methodologies to obtain and assess qualitative, quantitative and structural information on the nature of matter. It plays a major role in safeguarding health of patients and keeping company afloat on the scale of profits and building the reputation of the company. The analytical techniques are emerged based on the physico-chemical properties of the drug substance and based on the property being measured for its qualitative and quantitative assessment. Graduates of the program are highly sought after in every sector of health care industry.
Vision: To produce a competent Pharmaceutical Analyst to meet the demands of the Pharmaceutical Industries in terms of analysis, Quality control of materials (raw and finished), standards and compliance with regulatory bodies and to provide Quality Assurance to the Pharma Industry for the manufacture of either formulations or bulk drugs.
Objectives: To develop ability to work in pharmaceutical industries on modern analytical methods, instruments, analytical method development, validation, analytical research and achieving global standards.
The Department was created in 2015 to provide a focus for Pharmaceutical Analysis at RBVRR Women’s College of Pharmacy. Although it has its own laboratory space, it is an also an integral part of all the post graduate departments. The principal remit of the Department is the discovery, development and application of analytical methods and techniques relevant to pharmaceutical and toxicological sciences. The Department specializes in training pharmacists and chemists in developing their knowledge and problem solving skills in Pharmaceutical Analysis. There is good liaison between regulatory authorities, Pharmaceutical industry, official laboratories and academic establishments to further assist career development. A broad knowledge of the pharmaceutical analysis is disseminated to the students with an emphasis placed on both the academic and professional aspects of the subject and it prepares graduates, post graduates and Doctorates for entry into research programmes in the Pharmaceutical Analysis.
